Our name comes from the coquí, one of Puerto Rico’s most recognizable inhabitants. Its distinctive song has been heard across the island every night for generations. Endemic to Puerto Rico, the coquí’s familiar song reflects its ability to thrive with access to the essential elements it needs.

The same principle inspires our vision for Puerto Rico. Reliable, affordable, and secure energy is a basic necessity – and one of the essential elements people, communities, and businesses need to thrive.

One integrated system

One integrated system designed to support Puerto Rico's energy transformation and resilience objectives — the best way to deliver reliable, affordable, secure energy to Puerto Rico.

Energy storage equipment in a facility

Built to Strengthen the Grid

Our storage systems do more than store power. They are self-charging, drawing power directly from the co-located photovoltaic panels while absorbing surplus energy the grid would otherwise waste and releasing it when generation typically falls short. Combined with grid-stabilizing capabilities, they respond fast enough to help bring the grid back online if it ever goes down, addressing one of Puerto Rico's most urgent needs: a more resilient, independently stable grid.

Built to Strengthen Agriculture

Our agrivoltaic design preserves agricultural land, promotes the expansion of agricultural activity, supports food security, and helps revitalize Puerto Rico’s agricultural industry. We partner with local farmers and agricultural cooperatives to bring long-idle land back into productive use, covering the upfront cost of clearing, drainage, and infrastructure that would otherwise be out of reach on their own.

The Energy Crisis in Puerto Rico
and What We're Doing About It

Energy project field inspection in Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico's grid was built for a different era, and it's been showing for years: outages that come too often, plants running well past their prime, fuel that has to travel by ship before it ever reaches a home. That's not news to anyone who lives here.

The numbers make it plain: core thermal plants average 45-50 years old, compared with 18 years nationally. 94% of the island's electricity comes from imported fuel. And retail rates run 60-75% above the U.S. mainland average.

What's different now is the opening. Puerto Rico gets a real chance to rebuild its energy system from scratch—not patch the old one, but build something local, resilient, and finally its own.

That's the leap.Coquí Power is here to build.
